You may have noticed the term child labour in the news or on TV Channels. Child Labour is a crime in which children are forced to work at an early age. it refers to the exploitation of children through any form of work that deprives children of their childhood, interferes with their ability to attend regular school, and is mentally, physically, socially, and morally harmful. It’s like asking children to take on responsibilities such as working and caring for their families. Pakistan has been known for being one of the most notorious children labour violators over many years.
Eighteen years is the average age that a child should be able to work. Children below this age limit will not be permitted to engage in any work. Children more than 12.5 million are forced to work as child labourers have no chance of a normal childhood. They don’t get a good education, and they lack the expected mental and physical well-being. It is illegal in some countries, but it’s far from being eradicated.
Factors That Lead To Child labour:
Many child workers suffer beatings and torture while working as child labourers. In addition, many children are placed with elite and middle-class families to work as domestic servants. These jobs can be hazardous for children because they expose them to physical and sexual abuse, often without supervision.
Child Labour arises in countries with high levels of poverty and unemployment. The children are often put to work by their parents if they don’t have enough income. The younger members of the family must work if the older ones aren’t working. People who don’t have the opportunity to learn will eventually put their children to work if they don’t have the proper education.
Child labour is also a result of the money-saving mindset of many industries. Children are hired because they offer a lower wage for the same work done as adults. Children are more productive than adults, and they earn a higher wage. They are easy to manipulate and influence. They see only their profits, which is why they employ children in factories.
We agree that most of the countries in the world are plagued by the issue of child labour due to lack of proper education and other factors. Not everyone who wants to be a teacher also should be given the opportunity to do so.
The Elimination of Child Labour:
We must find effective ways to save children if we want to eliminate child labour. These measurements will help to improve the future of countries that deal with these social problems. One way to start is to create unions that work exclusively against child labour. It should be able to help children who do this work and punish those who do it. We must also keep parents informed so that they understand the importance of education. We can educate more children if education is free and people are more aware of the importance of education. We should also take family control measures as it will help reduce the family’s financial burden.
The government and the people must work together. People need to have plenty of employment opportunities to make a living and not rely on their children for their income. Children are the future of this country. We cannot expect them not to have a normal childhood and maintain the economic status of their families.
Badlay Ga Pakistan’s mission is to create social awareness among masses that are blinded by their self-interest and don’t see the impact of their actions.
